B.SC. BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Philosophy
The programme is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to function as managers in both the private and public sectors of the economy. In today’s competitive world, the need for effective and efficient utilization of organizational resources cannot be over-emphasized. This now calls for the development of a special class of people with the requisite managerial, technical, administrative and innovative skills in order to derive the process of positioning organizations for national and global competitions. In so doing, the programme’s course structure blends a number of functional business disciplines into cohesive units of core and elective courses which encompasses theoretical, applied, quantitative, and behavioral concepts of management that apply to decision making in all organizations in business, government and the community.

Objectives

To provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required to function effectively and efficiently as managers in both the private and public sectors of the economy.

To produce managers who are capable of applying appropriate management principles and techniques of problem solving in the Nigerian environment and the world at large.

To produce individuals with entrepreneurial skills and leadership qualities, with the view of impacting positively on the wellbeing of the society.

To produce graduates with adequate competence in management and technology, who would understand, use and adapt existing technologies to solve national problems.  

 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 100 Level Entry Requirement

 Five O’Level credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Accounting, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics.

 200 Level Entry Requirement

  •  HSC/GCE A’Level Credit passes in two subjects chosen from Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Geography or statistics and Five O’Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Accounting or Economics and two other relevant subjects.
  • OND in Business Admin. or related courses  with class not less than Lower credit and Five O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.
  • HND in related field and Five O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.

 Duration:                      A maximum of Ten (10) Semesters

 Degree to be Awarded:          B.Sc. Business Management
